Weekend of Aug 8-10 - something going on?

I%26#39;ve been looking at booking a hotel for the weekend of Aug. 8-10 but keep running into roadblocks for that Saturday. All of the downtown hotels that I tried are booked. Is there something going on that I%26#39;m not aware of? I know that Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge are in town that night but - ?

Oh, Downtown Minneapolis! It must be either UFC 87 or the fact that I am planning on sealcoating my driveway.

I%26#39;ve always thought that the Holiday Inn Metrodome was a good location/value. You%26#39;d want to check the location and the reviews here first though.

The Fringe Festival is still on this weekend as well. You could also try Starwood%26#39;s new Hotel Minneapolis.

Ouch--my mistake. 13,000 expected at Target Center for UFC 87. Front page story in Thrusday%26#39;s paper.

Regarding the reply about Starwood%26#39;s Hotel Minneapolis. That hotel (just opened) is actually a Hilton Doubletree property, in a remodeled bank building downtown. Starwood is opening the W Hotel in the Foshay tower this week, and it%26#39;s new concept W Aloft, in early September. It%26#39;s near the Guthrie and Metrodome.
