We are driving the gunflint trail, and noticed there are lots of options along the way for great hiking. Our time is limited, so unfortunately we may only have time for one or two stops. Which trails have the best views. (where we wouldn%26#39;t have to hike for 4 hours to get to them)
We are trying to decide between Honeymoon Bluff, Caribou Rock, Northern Light Overlook Trail, or Pincusion Mountain.
Hiking on the Gunflint Trail - suggestions needed
I can%26#39;t believe no one ever responded to your post. Of the four trails you listed, Honeymoon Bluff and Caribou Rock are the 2 shortest and most popular. Honeymoon is a 10 minute climb (all stairs), depending on your physical condition, to a beautiful view. Less steep is the Caribou Rock trail to an equally fabulous view. This trail contnues on into the BWCA so you can make the hike last as little or as long as you like. Northern Light overlook is very steep and should not be done in or after rain as the trail crosses alot of rock faces and will be quite slippery. Pincushion is a complex cross country ski area that doubles as hiking trails in the summer, lengths vary, most views are of the forest and Lake Superior.
Hiking on the Gunflint Trail - suggestions neededOberg Mountain and Caribou Falls are also very nice short hikes south of Grand marais. Oberg Mountain gets you up high fast
