We will be staying near MOA for a few night in mid March. We have a few days to see the sights before we transfer to our downtown hotel for our convention. We wanted a cheaper place to stay pre conference.
Is there an inexpensive way to get to get to Stillwater from Bloomington for a day trip besides renting a car? I%26#39;d like a plan ';B'; for how to get around if the snow is bad.

None I can think of. It%26#39;s about a 35- to 40-minute drive from Bloomington to Stillwater -- more if you go during rush hour. So a taxi would be really spendy. And there%26#39;s no public transportation to Stillwater. Maybe someone else knows of something I haven%26#39;t heard of.

If we still had streetcars, those used to go to Stillwater. Unfortunately, the mobsters had those torn up years ago!
Renting a car would be the (by far) least expensive solution. If you will be staying near the Mall, your hotel may have a shuttle to get you to the airport, where you could get to your car rental company. Or, depending on the company, they may deliver it to your hotel.
Hi Travelanne,
Not sure from your message if you already found a place to stay near the MOA. If not check out this link to a newer hotel, 10 mins. from the MOA but also near city of Edina.

Edina is just North of Bloomington. It is home to the country%26#39;s first enclosed mall, Southdale, has a Galleria Mall, many restaurants and a great shopping district called ';50th and France'; with great unique boutiques and restaurants.
I would also suggest the Grand Ave. area of St. Paul. A quaint street 2 blocks from historic Summit Ave, lined with mansions from lumber barons, govenors and writers, Grand Ave. host a broad array of shopping and eating opportunities. (20 mins. from MOA).
A couple other nice places to visit while in town would include, Wayzata on the shores of Lake Minnetonka, Excelsior also on the lake and finally Red Wing home of Red Wing Shoes and Pottery.
Hope these are helpful or at least interesting.
