Need Lodging Help Near Brainerd

Need a place to stay for one night near Brainerd/Baxter within 30 miles -- the problem is everywhere I call they have a 2 or 3 night minimum stay and we will only be in the area for one night.

Any suggestions?

Check out the Super 8 Motel in Baxter, MN. It is very nice and centrally located by all the great shopping in town. If you want to go boating on Gull lake, the Brainerd Speedway or bike the trails, this is a nice location, affordable and very clean. Check out the hotel on www.super8.com website. Of course, type in Baxter for photos of the rooms and breakfast area. It is very nice.

ItsColdUpHere -- Yes I did try Cragun%26#39;s they have a 2 night minimum requirement which is the issue we are visiting the area as part of a 2-1/2 week motorcycle ride and will only be passing through.

Michelle -- thanks I%26#39;ll try the Super8 -- I usually try to stay away from Motel6 or Super8 because they can be hit or miss -- either really good for the price or really bad.

We really like to stay at Mom %26amp; Pop places or Bed and Breakfasts where we get to meet people.

Any other suggestions?

When are you needing this stay? It%26#39;s rather unusual to have a two-night minimum unless it%26#39;s a holiday weekend or other large event in the area.

If you%26#39;re looking for a chain, AmericInn is very nice . . . I believe it would be considered in Baxter.

If you%26#39;d like an ';experience'; check out vikinginn (dot com). It%26#39;s at Crosby (NE of Brainerd).

It is the July 3rd which is a Thursday -- so I would have assumed the ';holiday weekend'; doesn%26#39;t start until Friday but apparently that%26#39;s not the case -- I%26#39;ll check out the viking. Thanks for the information.

We may end up going into Little Falls instead if I can%26#39;t find something in or near Brainerd.

Also you may want to check three hotels farther north that frequently do not have minimum stays. AmericInn (218-568-8400) in Pequot Lakes, Whitefish Lodge (218 692-2246) and Pine Peaks (888-488-7829) both in Crosslake. All are about 30 miles from Brainerd on or near the Whitefish Chain.

Thanks for the info Puck021 -- we are winding our way South into Illinois so we are really trying to avoid going farther North than Brainerd. But if I can%26#39;t find anything else I%26#39;ll take a look at those.

Scratch Downtown Motel in Brainerd. We were in town a few weekends ago and saw it. Old 50s-vintage motor hotel, now run down and looking like crash pads/cheap long-term lodging for ';those of modest means,'; complete with junker cars in the parking spaces.
