we are planning on staying in Bloomington, for the Mall of America, but i would like to know how far and how easy it is to get to the outlet mall in Albertville. thanks :-)
Outlet mall
It will be interstate highway the whole way (2-3 lanes,55 or 65 mph). Very easy to find. If you%26#39;re staying near the Mall of America, take I-494 West until it changes into I-94 in Maple Grove. Initially, you head west on 494 but it takes a northerly turn in Eden Prairie to link up with I-94, which will then take you in a northwest direction the final stretch to Albertville.
From I-94 westbound, you take Exit 202, which is County Highway/Road 19. head north on that (a right). You%26#39;ll see it from the interstate.
Whole trip should take just over an hour. Depending on speed.
Have a look at Google maps to get a visual. I got as specific as possible, so directions might appear more complicated than they are. Really, once you%26#39;re on 494 it%26#39;s one turn.

Outlet mall
Oh, make sure you avoid major commute times. That drive would take upwards of 3 hours between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Go at 10 a.m. Try to avoid the rush hour (4-6) on the way back if you can, even though the majority will be coming out of the metro area on your way back as you head in. Shouldn%26#39;t be too bad on the way back but between 4 and 6 you%26#39;ll definitely hit traffic on 494 heading back to Bloomington and MOA area
It%26#39;s very easy to get to if you have a car. If not, it could be a little more difficult. Here is the link to the outlet mall website; there is a link on the home page for information about Directions and Transportation, but it doesn%26#39;t seem to work in my browser. Maybe it will work in yours:

It would imply there is some sort of bus that will get you from the Twin Cities to the outlet mall, but I have no idea as to schedule or pickup locations.
was trying to decide on taxi or whether or not to hire a car. Not driven in states before(we drive on other side dont we), so would like to know if it is fairly easy to drive through the town until i get to interstate, or if it is mad busy like in NYC? alternatively does anyone know what a taxi would cost, baring in mind i would need two journeys (there and back) eight hours or so apart. is there definitely no public transport, i cant find a train or bus/coach route on the net. thanks for any help!!
Based on this website you%26#39;re looking at approximately $87 - and that is with light traffic - one way to the outlet mall in Albertville.

There is also an outlet mall near Owatonna, MN, which is about the same distance straight south of the MOM and would probably be an easier drive if you%26#39;re uncomfortable driving. I am far from the person to give outlet mall advise - and I%26#39;ve never been to either mall - but it could be an option for you.

Good luck!
It%26#39;s really a very easy drive on the freeway if you avoid the rush hour. One piece of advice if you drive do not speed between Plymouth and Maple Grove. This stretch is constantly a speed trap. I live in the area and drive it everyday. Not worth s ticket speeding to save a few minutes.
The drive from Bloomington hotels (what hotel) to 494 is easy (way easier than driving in New York or London). Once you are on 494, it is pretty much the same as driving on a Motorway in England. After much driving in the UK and Ireland, I find it very easy to follow other cars on divided highways/motorways since you don%26#39;t really need to think about what side of the road you are supposed to be driving.
thanks, we are staying at the hilton bloomington/msp airport. i figure with sat nav i cant get into too much trouble (i hope!!)
