Going to a Wild game this weekend.
Looking for some suggestions for two 40 year old guys to have some fun. By that I mean innocent fun doing some bar/pub hopping downtown. Enjoy drinking beer and good eats. Not too fancy but not pub food either. Any suggestions and where to get the best steak in Minneapolis bearing in mind we are on foot. Staying downtown at the Marquette.
Good time
I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get other suggestions, but I think Morton%26#39;s is a great steakhouse, and they%26#39;re a short walk of a couple blocks from the Marquette:

The Local, up the street a little bit on Nicollet Mall is a great bar/restaurant:

There are many others, but that%26#39;s what I%26#39;ve got for now.
Good time
I stayed at the Marquette recently and found a place just a block away called Ike%26#39;s, on 7th St. The scene was within the realm of your %26#39;fun%26#39;, and the food was pretty good, which I rarely say. I actually returned a couple of days later.
The Wild play in St. Paul, and if you%26#39;re looking for something over there, I would say the bar at the St. Paul Hotel would be a good time, and a two-minute walk to the Excel. I don%26#39;t know how you%26#39;re getting to the game on foot from the Marquette, but trust you have plans.
If you are looking for a total carnivore experience consider Fogo de Chao on 7th and Hennepin. Cost is $40 / person but the meat keeps coming, and we are talking 7 different meats brought tableside by gauchos. Amazing salad bar, but use caution as it takes up valuable meat storage space in your belly!
Enjoy! - Sausage321
I%26#39;ll start by making sure you realize that the Wild don%26#39;t play in Minneapolis. Maybe you do, and I apologize if that%26#39;s the case. But lots of people come on this board not realizing the Wild play in St. Paul. If you are looking for a steak place close to the action downtown St. Paul, check out Mancini%26#39;s on West Seventh down the bar strip form the arena. That keeps you in the area of bars where people go after the Wild game.
If you%26#39;re staying at the Marquette in Minneapolis, Ike%26#39;s is a good choice but not the best steak.
My choice would be Murray%26#39;s, which is right next to Ike%26#39;s. It%26#39;s old-timey in its decor and attention to service, and fantastic steak. But as with all the ';best steak joints in town'; it%26#39;s spendy.
Thanks for your help. We did know that the Wild played in St Paul. We wanted to see Minneapolis and rightly or wrongfully assumed we could have more ';fun'; in Minneapolis.
Thanks again.
Cool, thanks for clarifying.
You can have a fun time in either city, but I%26#39;d say the nightlife has a wider range in Minneapolis by a mile. After the game, you can walk basically across the street to find the postgame hockey crowd -- a bit more blue collar than what you%26#39;ll find downtown Mpls.
I stand by Murray%26#39;s (3 blocks on foot from Marquette) then as the best steak place if that%26#39;s what you want. Probably a $40-$45 entree, drinks about $6 a pop. If that%26#39;s not what you want to pay, then holler and I can suggest more spots. The Local would be a good spot along Nicollet Mall to walk for a few pints. 4 blocks. Crowd there ranges in age from mid-20s to mid-40s. Not as rowdy as the clubs down the Warehouse Distrct
MANNYS STEAKHOUSE.....Its the best!! its in the downtown Hyatt building
For sure Manny%26#39;s is the best. check out Britts Pub and also the Local is a good pub with good pub food.,
Enjoy
