It looks like we will be booking at the Hyatt on Nicollet Mall for our Memorial Day trip. Could not find a better deal than 89 a night. My question is, Is there parking at the light rail station on Nicollet mall? We will have a rental car for the weekend. Just incase we wanna drive to the station and not walk or take a cab. Also, how long a ride on the light rail is it normally to get from Nicollet mall to the Mall of America? Thanks, anyone?
Parking at Nicollet mall station
There is parking around the light rail station. However, I personally wouldn%26#39;t leave a car there for an extended amount of time, esp with rental plates on it. Is parking at the hotel terribly expensive? The lots downtown range from $3-10/day, so I would probably look for something closer to your hotel. Also, there%26#39;s lots of free street parking, just look for the signs. And free parking Sunday %26amp; Monday.
I remember the ride to MOA being about 45 minutes.

keep the car at the Hyatt Ramp, and just taxi it up to the light rail station - that would be best.
You could drive to Mall of America too -
Hyatt is close to 35W entrance ramp
35W south to
62 ';Crosstown'; East (left exit) to
Cedar 77 South
to Mall
20 - 25 min
45 minutes or so is correct. The Hyatt has a pretty large attached parking ramp. Light Rail is just a short walk or very quick cab ride. If you have a car I would use it to drive down Hennepin to Uptown and Lake Calhoun. Kind of a fun hip area. Chino-Latino there is a great fusion restaurant or across the street to Figlios for great Italian. Right behind your hotel is King and I Tai which also is awesome.
Leave your car at the Hyatt, walk out the front door, cross the street and ride the Nicollet Mall bus to the light rail stop. It will take about five minutes and cost you fifty cents. Riding anywhere in the downtown zone is fifty cents; just be sure as you board the bus to tell the driver you are only riding in the downtown zone. You will then still need a full fare ticket for the light rail, as you will be riding beyond the downtown zone to get the the MOA.
