Just thought I%26#39;d post this helpful tidbit I got from work today...
While most special events are ';scheduled in between rush hours'; to minimize traffic inconvenience, please be aware:
- Plan extra time for your travel in the Twin Cities area - whether one your own or using public transportation
- Road closures could occur, but should be rare and brief
- the MN State Fair is also occurring thru Monday, adding congestion to the Snelling area, including the highways that connect to it
- Call ahead for reservations to avoid frustration, your favorite place may be packed or closed to the public
- Traffic delays will be inevitable into the Mpls and St Paul downtowns
- Consider carpooling, mass transit and online resources to plan your commute:

Hope this is helpful to your stay/commute during the next week. Have a great holiday weekend!
HEADS UP: Republican Natl Convention just around the corner
St. Paul information: The 5th street exit from east I-94 and Kellog exit from north 35E are being closed at 6PM today (Aug 29).
I don%26#39;t live far from the fairgrounds.....I may need a catapult to get out of my neighborhood. ;)
HEADS UP: Republican Natl Convention just around the corner
I was in downtown St. Paul last night just to check it all out and I will be staying away! There are huge stages and tents set up all over. With the news trucks, communications equipment and security all brought in, I can imagine that much of downtown will be impassable.
I lived in that area for a year and know how congested it can get. Thanks for the neighborhood input. I personally plan to lay low the whole week, but I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;ll encounter some convention hurdles since I work in downtown Mpls. But I have to comment on how much civic beautifying is happening right now - it%26#39;s really awesome!
