We%26#39;re heading up north from the Twin Cities, just past Garrison, MN this weekend. Are there any good places to stop and eat along the way? We%26#39;re staying at a friends cabin, so we don%26#39;t really get out to explore the area much.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Any good places to eat en route to Mille Lacs? This weekend?
I have friends who own a cabin in Grand Rapids. They stop at Happy%26#39;s drive-in whenever it fits the schedule. East of the road, between Onamia and the turn off to Isle.

Classic drive in with a dog exercise area across the parking lot.

For a really good breakfast...eat at Eddy%26#39;s on Mille Lacs...it is Casino owned...but has Antonio a great chef who used to work at the Casino back in the days when the food was ok there. He does a Mexican scrambler that is better than anything in Mexico!! Think it is $6.99, good hash browns, good pancakes, nice waitresses and excellent service. Windows look to the lake...very old place...but fun to see the charter boats come in from fishing.
The casino has a new deli type restaurant, along with the sitdown restaurant and then the buffet restaurant.
The Blue Goose in Garrison is ok...McDonald%26#39;s is there, too...Dairy Queen never opened this season, guess they are down for the count! Just past the turn off in Garrison used to be a lakeview restaurant...they have been down now for at least 2 seasons...things are kind of rough with the casino doing so much business...hurts the other places.
BTW, just wanted to say thanks for the ideas. We ended up being short on time and just packed things to grill at the cabin. In the future, we hope to get up there for a WHOLE weekend and would love to check out some of these suggestions.
