3-week stay for the Mayoclinc Any Suggestions?

I am going to the St. Mary%26#39;s Clinic Oct 9 for three week stay as an outpatient. Any suggestions for an extended stay that is reasonably priced between 50 or 75 a night or weekely rates. My sister will join me for one of the weeks. I would be very grateful for any suggestions of this matter. Thank you so much

Have you tried asking the clinic for recommendations? Almost always they have good contract rates with local hotels.

You can also try calling hotels directly and asking for a clinic long-term stay rate. Typically, when a stay is 30-days or longer, you can get taxes removed from the bill, too.

And, finally, if price is your only driver, you may want to try Priceline or Hotwire. Check out betterbidding.com or biddingfortravel.com for recent winning bids and property lists.

The GuestHouse Inn (formerly Travelodge) has some units with kitchenettes and there is a large grocery store shopping center across the street (a busy street but there are lights). I was in one of the 3rd floor units that face US 52 and it had a fridge, small range, microwave and sink plus some cooking utinsils. This could be a real cost saving but they do have a breakfast that is included (juice, coffee, cerals, breads, pastries, some fruits). They might also have a weekly rate deal. We%26#39;ve stayed there many times for my wife%26#39;s visits to the clinic and hospitals.

They have a Famous Dave%26#39;s BBQ restaurant attached and across the street is a Perkins restuarant too. There is a free shuttle (as with most Rochester hptels) to the Clinic and hospitals - St. Mary%26#39;s is about 8 blocks away. I believe the latest ';clinic rate'; was around $69...up from $59 last year since they changed name. Not sure if the kitchenette units would be more or if weekly rate would bring nightly average back down.

As with any hotel in Rochester always be sure to ask for their ';clinic rate'; which is at least as low as and often lower than AAA/AARP rates. The Mayo Clinic web site has links for lodging options at: www.mayoclinic.org/travel-rst/lodging.html

due to change the GuestHouse Inn is not listed anymore but can be contacted at: http://guesthouserochester.com/ (with pictures of room types).

I can tell you as an employee of the clinic, I have heard about every single hotel in this town. Although some of them are in older buildings, the hotels in Rochester usually are clean with friendly staff. I haven%26#39;t yet heard of a patient that has had a completely horrific hotel! I know the Blondell has affordable rooms that aren%26#39;t luxurious but there is a very tasty restaurant downstairs.

When we were looking for a place to stay at the Mayo, we emailed the conciege service that is right at the Mayo Clnic. They are always friendly in their emails and gave us a few ideas and some web links to check out.

Of course, I cant find that email now so I can let you know what their ideas were.

We ended up not needing to stay more than a few days so we never totally pursued the ideas they gave us.

The conciege email is: concierge@mayo.edu

Their phone is: (507) 538-8438
