wedding/reunion site

My daughter, grad student at Michigan, is getting married next summer. We%26#39;re trying to find a site where she can have an outdoor wedding (with indoor rain site available), relaxed reception, bonfire, and where about 40 family/friends can stay for 2 nights to play, chat, etc. (Canoeing would be fun, as would a center lodge or reunion center where folks could gather for meals, board games, etc.) Our extended family and her fiance%26#39;s family are from Twin Cities area. She%26#39;d like to find a spot no more than three hours from the Twin Cities.

We%26#39;ve looked at LOTS of websites. Most resorts require full week rentals during the summer, or the rates are $250 per night per room, which is too high for the guests. She%26#39;d love to find a beautiful spot where she and her friends can play and party, her dogs could come, and that won%26#39;t break the bank. I saw a suggestion for the Mt. Olivet Conference Center as a place for a family reunion. It seems perfect, except they don%26#39;t allow alcohol. That%26#39;s a deal-breaker.

I%26#39;d really appreciate any suggestions you can give us. I didn%26#39;t think it would be so hard to find the kind of location she%26#39;s imagining. Thanks!!

Did you look at Breezy Point in Minnesota? That sounds close to what you want. Also some of those resorts on North Shore might do something...Lusens?

Look at this LARGE cabin in Moose Lake, which is an EASY drive north on 35. This place looks like it holds 20 people plus your other guests could camp or stay in the hotel a couple miles away in moose lake. You can bring pets there for an additional $100 and there is only a 2 might minimum stay. You could get married in Moose Lake on the lake. Contact a local pastor or what not and ask if they could marry you somewhere pretty around there!

Good luck!
