2 Irish on road trip-duluth/Apostle Islands worth a visit?

hey folks,

My girlfriend and I are over for 2 weeks visiting Chicago for a couple of days and looking for somewhere to aim for after that..wondering if there%26#39;s anywhere nice with lakeside lodging/hotels/restaurants with a bit of nightlife too perhaps...are the apostle Islands worth a visit?

Ya thanks but i have some suggestions for wisconsin so trying to research this area!

I don%26#39;t know about the nightlife, but the Bayfield/ Apostle Island area is a beautiful place. I think it would be worth looking into.

what kind of nightlife? for music in Bayfield this is a neat spot,I%26#39;ve been here before: http://www.bigtop.org/ I see Gaelic Storm as one of the August performances and several more.

Madeline Island is fun too. Not a huge nightlife there really, it%26#39;s pretty small though there are a couple of places on the island like Tom%26#39;s Burned Down Cafe. We%26#39;re going to a show there as well. We usually stay one night in Bayfield and one on Madeline Island. Very pretty area. It%26#39;s known for it%26#39;s berry picking places and the Islands obviously. Check the Bayfield, WI forum for lodging. We stay at the Seagull Bay Motel which is lovely for basic lodging, with a view of Lake Superior (above not right on). It%26#39;s very quiet. They do free shuttles to Big Top from this motel (and other locales in Bayfield). There%26#39;s also a trail right below that gets you to town. It%26#39;s not set right in the heart of downtown though if you%26#39;re looking for that.

Bayfield is rather small in comparison to Duluth. You%26#39;d find much more nightlife in Duluth. Duluth is a neat area as well. The lift bridge and boats coming in is a highlight of the area. There%26#39;s The Great Lakes Aquarium there as well. I can%26#39;t tell you specifics on nightlife so much so maybe another poster can help with that.

Door Cty. is another neat area of WI, in the upper NE part of the state vs. NW of the state where Bayfield, etc. is. I%26#39;m not sure their nightlife there.
