Coming to town for weekend of August 1-3.
A mix of business/pleasure trip.
First time to twin cities for me, wife has been many times.
We want to stay downtown. My wife has stayed at the Chambers before and really enjoyed it. Looking at the hotel review the three below seem like good candidates. We are looking for a upscale hotel, great bed, quiet room.
Which hotel would you choose at rates below?
All rooms are comparable per the website descriptions.
Chambers $265/night
Marquette $189/night
The Grand Hotel $225/night
Thank You very much for your opinions.
Opinions on these hotel choices
The Grand is just great!
Very nice. I like their lounge and resturant.
I have stayed at the Marquette and it was
very nice but I like the feel of The Grand better.
I have not been to Chambers though,
Hope that helps!
Opinions on these hotel choices
Grand is an excellent hotel but I do prefer the Marquette a bit more for the better service and the slightly better location. Might come down to which style you like better. But with the Marquette being less expensive, that might be the decider.
For the Chambers, well, I haven%26#39;t stayed there (have stayed at the other 2). Probably because of the price. So I can%26#39;t really comment.
I think the Marquette is pretty bland.
It is really a business hotel. I may have had too many boring lunhes there but it would not be my first choice.
The Chambers is a bit avant-guarde. They do have an outdoor enclosed bar that might be nice in good weather.
The Grand is more serious - think old money wood - but quite nice.
There will be more activity around the Chambers on a weekend.
The new W hotel in Foshay Tower.......
I have stayed in two of the three hotels.
Marquette is in the center of downtown, nice but more like a business hotel. Is located within the IDS tower block.
Grand is a little low key on the outside but the rooms are very nice. Service is excellent, rooms are beautiful.
I have not stayed in the Chambers.
I would recommend the Grand.
if the money was the same, I would choose the Grand over the Marquette. I do think the rooms are better there.
Maybe I%26#39;m cheap, but $36 a night would put me in the Marquette instead. As I said, depends on what you look for in a hotel. Grand is a little more stylish in the old, traditional style. But the Marquette is impeccable for cleanliness, amenities and service. And I really think the rooms are nice -- but in the modern style. (I do think it is more attractive than just for business clientele, but that%26#39;s here nor there)
Thanks for all your comments.
I booked a package at the Grand through their website. Looking forward to our trip.
I will leave reviews and a trip report when I return.
