North Shore HIkes

I would like to do a short hike (1/2 hour or 1/2 mile or less or even 3/4 mile) in Gooseberry Falls, Tettegouche, Temperance River, Judge Magney, and Jay Cooke State Parks. Does anyone know of any?

Thank you.

North Shore HIkes

I think that all of the parks you mentioned have that kind of hike available, perhaps more than one even. Ask for a park map at the entrance station or visitor center.

North Shore HIkes

All the parks you mention have trails.

Gooseberry - a fun hike is to walk from the falls to the lake.

the DNR has maps online -

Tettegouche - walk out to Shovel Point %26amp; back

Temperance River - there%26#39;s a trail on the north side - and if you walk far enough - you%26#39;ll make it to Carlton Peak

Judge Magney - be sure to make it to The Devil%26#39;s Kettle

I haven%26#39;t been to Jay Cooke.

Other hikes you might be interested in on the North Shore -

Grand Portage state park is very close to Magney - and you can see the highest falls in the state -

I%26#39;m a big fan of the Oberg Loop, by Lutsen - seven scenic vistas at the top

Hey angeleyes27-

All parks are great- my wife and I are avid campers / hikers and have done both at all parks. The most scenic / short hikes would be either Jay Cooke or Gooseberry Falls. My favorite is Jay Cooke- there is a cool iron bridge over the St Louis River built in the 1930%26#39;s - and has very scenic photo ops, with Gooseberry coming in a close second. Enjoy!

The hike to the waterfall at Tettegouche is also wonderful and it%26#39;s a beatiful spot.

One other (non-hiking) suggestion: Just North of Silver Bay, and before you get to Tettegouche SP, is the turn off for Pallisade Head. It%26#39;s a short drive to the top and the views of Lake Superior are outstanding, especially of the aforementioned Shovel Point.

Thank you for the info. We have a limited time in each park because we are doing them all in one day so if we hike for about a half hour in each then we will get to see them. Even 45 minutes would be okay. I appreciate all your advice.
