Hi
I will be in Minneapolis at the end of Sept. I will be going to the Target centre. Do I stay downtown or in the Warehouse district? What is a reasonable and decent place to stay below 200? Can I use the light rail to get around during the day and got the Target centre? Coming in from the airport can I use the light rail to get to my hotel or is a cab better?
appreciate any info.
Best place to stay near Target centre?
There are several hotels within walking distance. Depending on what else might be in town, you might get rooms for under $200.
I plugged in last weekend in Sept for prices on Expedia.
Across the street is Graves 601 $179 (GOOD RATE !)
A few blocks away are the:
Marriott CityCenter
Radisson $139
Marquette $150
The Minneapolis Grand $149
and The Crown Plaza
A few more blocks is the Chambers $203, W Foshay $180, Hotel Minneapolis $127, the Westin $214.
The light rail connects the Mall of America to downtown Minneapolis via the Airport. That would be quick, easy, and much less than taxi.
Here%26#39;s routemap:

The Warehouse District is actually part of downtown - you can see it in this map -

Thanks for all the great info, I will check it out
when are you coming?
what you going to see at Target Center?
who%26#39;s all in your group?
there%26#39;s a bunch of fun places to hit downtown
We will be there at the end of Sept. There are 2 couples. We are there for business and some fun. What are your suggestions?
I am still having some trouble trying to figure out the light rail system. If I stayed near mall of america can I use the light rail to get downtown?
Thanks
I%26#39;d say stay downtown - if you want any sort of night life. If you won%26#39;t have a car, you don%26#39;t have to worry about parking.
The W and the Hotel Minneapolis just opened in Aug - and the rates I found on Expedia were pretty good.
If you stayed by the Mall of America, you%26#39;d just have to get to the Mall by taxi, and take the light rail to downtown. The mall transit station is on floor below the main level.
You%26#39;ll have more dining %26amp; bar options downtown too.
We are also going to Minneapolis at the end of September...I went on Hotwire and got a 4 star hotel downtown Minneapolis for $79..ended up getting the Hyatt Regency about 1 mile from the Target center..check it out!! Good Luck!!
I say this to anyone who comes to Minneapolis looking to enjoy the downtown for nightlife, restaurants, museums, theaters ...
ESPECIALLY for nightlife,stay downtown.
As well as the light rail works (cheap, clean, safe) it%26#39;s still a 40-minute ride each way. That%26#39;s a long ride from the Mall. And then you factor in the hassle of getting back and forth to the mall and the hotel. That easily trumps the savings of a few dollars.
There is something to be said for being downtown and not having to do anythiing more than walk to your hotel once you%26#39;ve eaten or drank your fill.
It makes it feel more like a vacation. And the hotels are nicer. And if those fares Downtown_Minneapolis posted are available, then you%26#39;re getting a very good deal. I%26#39;d snap up the Graves or Radisson at that rate in a second.
And as always, if you guys tell us what kind of food you like or what you%26#39;d like to do/see, we can team up and give you some specific recommendations.
