Flying into MSP then driving up to Duluth on way to drop son off at camp in Ely - we have almost 24hrs in Duluth and would love some suggestions on how to pass the time? This would be from Saturday around 1 pm to Sunday around noon. Is there something fun to do on the lake, any shows to see, kid friendly casinos - ha, just kidding on that one! Any thoughts appreciated.
24 hours in duluth with 10 yr old.
Canal Park. Right on the waterfront by the Ariel Lift Bridge. See the Museum, walk out to the channel markers and look for ships entering the harbor, tour the William Irving ship, take a harbor tour on the Vista Queen boat, drive over the Ariel Lift Bridge out onto Minnesota Point. Go to the Depot Museum. Take the Skyline Drive and challenge your son to name the sights as seen from above (take binoculars). Eat dinner in the rotating restaurant (is that still open?). Make a trip out to Jay Cooke State Park and see what the voyageurs had to deal with as they paddled their cargo-laden canoes inland for the fur trade. Tour the Glensheen Mansion.
Oh, how many days did you say you had there?
