The four of us will be flying in to MSP at 8pm on Friday and staying at the Doubletree Downtown. Any limo/car companies recommended or is it easier/cheaper to catch a cab?
Thanks in advance!!
Transportation helpyou could do a cab or hire a limo - that would be priciest option
we do have supershuttle here -
maybe save some $$

the least expensive option would be to take the light rail line from airport to nicollet mall station on 5th street, and taxi or walk the six blocks down nicollet mall to the hotel

here%26#39;s a link to google maps - if it comes out
Transportation help
link got delete -
but the doubletree is about 6 blocks south on the pedestrian nicollet mall from the the light rail stop - a quick taxi ride
I would use DowntownMinneapolis%26#39; suggestion to use the light rail and taxi to the hotel from the light rail%26#39;s Nicollet Mall station for the fare minimum of $5. That%26#39;s basically $2 a person for the train ticket getting you 90 percent of the way to your hotel, then hopping a $5 cab the rest of the way -- $13 total. Just make sure he knows you know it shouldn%26#39;t be more than $5 so he feels like he can drive you over to St. Anthony and back to run up the fare!
I use Red and White Taxi mostly. Call them and ask if they can have a driver meet you at the station.

Taxi companies are hit and miss on pickups from non-residential buildings with no address, and there%26#39;s a good chance they won%26#39;t do it. But worth a shot.
Here you have some info:

For that numer of people I would take a cab or two cabs even unless you are really anxious to svae money.
To take a cab for six blocks would be an insult to the driver.
cabfare to the airport 25-30 bucks
If you call a cab and ask for van it would be more convenient and door to door
It%26#39;s a great fare for taxis. 6 blocks for 5 bucks -- plus tip? Takes them off calls for 5 minutes AND it%26#39;s downtown where a cab driver wants to be on a Friday night.
Have ever asked a driver how they feel?
There is being cheap, and then there is taking advantage
happytogo, how is that taking advantage of the driver? I don%26#39;t understand your reasoning.
For one, it%26#39;s their job. If a call is made the company is going to love the return on 6-7 blocks. That%26#39;s just under a dollar per block. And the driver would have to deal with it.
If you%26#39;re truly worried about the driver%26#39;s feeling, give him a $5 tip. 6 blocks is walkable sure, but if you have luggage you%26#39;re well within your rights to get a taxi. Not every fare is going to be the late-night Warehouse District to Bloomington run.
And as I said, you%26#39;re taking them away from finding that big fare for only 5 minutes. Seems pretty minor.
