Is the MOA just crazy crowded between Christmas and New Years,or is it really doable for Mall newbies?
MOA after Christmas? It depends on your purpose for going. I would say it is crazy only because all the kids are out of school. Once school is back in session, it will likely slow down. I find evenings in January to be a good time to bargain hunt, that%26#39;s about the only time I%26#39;ll go down there.
MOA after Christmas?Yep-that%26#39;s why I would have to go then-my daughter would be out of school. We really need a Mom-Daughter getaway, and we have always wanted to go to the Mall.I wonder if mid March/Spring Break would be as bad crowd-wise?
Mall experts-what say you?
The Mall is so big, it takes a lot to make it feel overcrowded. I would not worry at all.
Thanks all!
Any opinions on the Homewood Suites? The reviews do look pretty good.I think we would feel safe there.
Sorry--I%26#39;m a post behind here.
I think MOA is fine as long as you are patient, and have a plan. That is, don%26#39;t just walk in the door, and say ';golly, know how much corn this would hold ...'; Go to the MOA website, look at the lists of stores and the map, decide what you can%26#39;t miss, what you%26#39;d like to hit, etc.
Sounds like a plan.
Thank you!
We have been shopping at the MOA every January for a number of years from the UK and during the week it is fine, not busy at all.
Weekends are more busy because I think families bring the Children to the Theme Park to keep them entertained.
This year we are coming on Dec 10 for Christmas shopping instead of Sale shopping and are really looking forward to seeing all the decorations !!!
Stora - what a great time to visit, Decembers are usually the milder part of the winter. However, that description is relative, based on what you%26#39;re used to.
I hope you can also find time to explore downtown - that%26#39;s my favorite time of year to be there. The holiday shows %26amp; theater prouductions, special art exhibits, Holidazzle parade and decorations - the energy is just electric! And if it%26#39;s too cold for you, enjoy accessing everything via the skyway.
Thanks for your reply,we have encountered most degrees of your January weather from deep snowdrifts and minus 55 degrees wind chill to no snow at all and then we were really disappointed !!
We rarely see snow now in the UK and that%26#39;s what we find makes up part of the trip.
We did go downtown one year to see a new year parade which we really enjoyed but the cab cost us a fortune and most of the drivers do not seem to know where they are going as we have even had to direct them to the outlet malls ourself or ask in garages on there behalf.
I think that is a language problem.
Anyway we hope to cram lots into our four night/five day stay!!
I sadly have to agree that the cab service here needs work. I could tell you some real nightmare stories, maybe on another forum ;-) I have better luck with the reservable rides (shuttles, vans, etc) and public transit.
Lucky for you the light rail is in place from the Mall... although I%26#39;m not sure that%26#39;s where you%26#39;d be coming from. And it is really easy to get around in a rental car, I%26#39;d recommend the investment. But if that%26#39;s not an option, I totally understand and agree with your experience.
