Lodging and activites for long weekend (family with infant)?

I am meeting my 3 kids for a long weekend in Minn. and wonder if anyone knows:

- of a central place we can stay (would love a 3 BR condo) or adjoining rooms

- close to activities that we can do with an 18 month old. We love the outdoors. Parks would be great - greenspace or waterparks.

- it would be awesome if we didn%26#39;t need a car. If we could fly in...rail it to a place to stay and have things in walking distance.

Is all of this possible? From what I have read so far on Minneapolis...it sounds like it may be with all that this city has to offer!

I would greatly appreciate some suggestions!!

Thanks in advance!

You may want to check out a few of the recent posts about the Depot area downtown; the Residence Inn there might fit your needs; water park, downtown area accessible from the airport by light-rail. I%26#39;d recommend a day at one of the city parks/lakes, but you%26#39;d have to bus or cab them (Calhoun, Harriett, Como).

Thanks bk t1. Will check it out!

Residence Inn is along the light rail (or at least walking distance). One of the few hotels I have stayed at in town since I live here. It was a very nice stay, great service and the large, suite rooms are wonderful, with a kitchenette. Of course, a waterpark attached for the kids.

So you can take the light rail there from the airport. Then take the light rail to the largest green space in Minneapolis: Minnehaha Park.

It would be nice if you could also get to Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet and the chain of lakes, but there is no rail line running to that.

Minnehaha park is gorgeous. Lots of things to see. The waterfall, of course, and the little pool about a quarter mile downstream is pretty. If you follow the creek downstream another mile, you can see where it merges with the Missisissippi. Just make sure the kids are careful around the fast-moving water.

And of course, I must tell you that there is a Dairy Queen just across the street from the park on Minnehaha Avenue, northwest corner of the park.
