We have twins who are 20, a guy and a girl. They like to travel with us so we are looking for ideas for a long weekend type trip in minnesota, in late August. We suggested renting a friend%26#39;s cabin but our son thinks that would be kind of boring. Our daughter is not fussy but our son would like more of a lake setting where you can rent jet skis, etc. Since both are in college, we need to find something fairly inexpensive. We enjoy mini golfing, eating out, hiking, biking, etc. Anyone have any ideas of an inexpensive resort which might still have august openings? or other ideas for our family? we also like metro areas and the theater....if we go metro, minneapolis for instance, any suggestions on hotels?? thanks so much, cheri
Ideas for long weekend with twin 20 year olds??
I am partial to the north shore. There is tons of hiking up there and some really nice scenery. You can also rent mountain bikes for some of the trails. Here is a list of some of my favorite spots on the north shore: http://tinyurl.com/4c3pkx
If you want a resort where you can rent a ski boat or a jet ski, you might be more interested in the brainerd/mille lacs area. There you will find more of your watersports lakes and some good fishing as well.
Check this website for lodging and resorts:

Ideas for long weekend with twin 20 year olds??
Lake Benton, MN is a great place. It is on the western side of MN. 17 miles north of Pipestone, MN which has the Pipestone National Monument with hiking trails. Becker%26#39;s Resort located on Lake Benton Lake and in the community of Lake Benton specializes in family reunions. They%26#39;ve taken great care to keep their prices low so that everyone can enjoy a vacation and they normally have some openings but I recommend contacting them soon. Lake Benton is surrounded by wind turbines and is a small community located in southwest Minnesota. Lake Benton has hiking trails and historic places to see along with shopping and don%26#39;t forget the fishing. The resort does have rentals of boats and paddleboats. Good luck hope this helps.

Bike rentals, pools, marina, beach and restaurants on site. Other restaurants within a 5-15 minute drive. Mini golf within about a 5 minute drive. Great location in the middle of the Lakes Area.
