I mistakenly planned a trip to visit my sister in St Paul 9/3-9/6. Cannot find a reasonable room due to convention for first 2 nights. Any suggestions? Am willing to stay at airport first night as I have to return on 9/4 to pick up a car. Also, can I take bus 54 from airport and then 21 to Cathedral during that time ? Cost of fare and transfer, plus length of time from airport. Help please.

I know a ton of folks are offering up their places for the convention... many of them didn%26#39;t get offers because the had to go through a specific management company for this. So you might try Craig%26#39;s List or VRBO.com and search in the cities. I would think you%26#39;re chances of getting a hotel room now are pretty slim. I%26#39;d offer up my place but it%26#39;s nowhere near St Paul ;-)

I was having drinks with someone last night who needed a room this Sat night, after his wedding - they had given up on finding a room, and were just going to stay at their condo.

I suggested calling smaller, non-chain hotels that are probably not on travel hotel search engines.

Then I thought of the Nicollet Island Inn - he called and got a room for Sat.

It%26#39;s a small enough hotel that must have been under the radar for the convention.
