Family Reunion help for an outdoorsy family !

We are starting to plan a family reunion for July of 09%26#39;. We have 24 people-ages 2-76. We all love the outdoors and enjoy lakes, hiking, fishing and swimming. Any suggestions of a place to stay for 3-4 nights ?? Thanks so much for your help !! Trip advisor has really helped us in the past. We do not all have to stay in one unit. We are willing to split up as long as the units are close by. We are willing to drive up to 2 hours from the Twin cities.

Hey Vol

We are also an Outdoorsy family- one of our favorites is the Taylors Falls area. Check out this website for lodging / camping options: http://www.taylorsfalls.com/taylorsfalls.html

Also for kids close by is wildmountain.com/waterpark/waterpark_home.ht…

On the Wisconsin side of the St Croix river is a state park called Interstate. It is an awesome park with great hiking, picnic area and swimming lake.

The drive from MSP / St Paul is only about an hour or so. Enjoy!

I just got back from Interstate State Park two days ago -- 4 days of camping and canoeing.

To clarify, the park is on both sides of the river. It is the only state park jointly run by two states.

The part of the park on the MN side has more to see -- the glacial potholes and great trails to show you a bird%26#39;s eye view of the spectacular Dalles.

This would be a good place. Good suggestion.

Taylor%26#39;s Falls itself has a nice small-town feel with little shops and a drive-in malt/burger joint.

I know nothing about accomodations there, however, as I always camp when I%26#39;m there.

mntoathens-

right on - camping %26amp; canoeing on the St Croix is why we live here..VOL ..you will need two seperate permits to visit or picnic the MN or WI parks which are seperated by the river. Even being a MN homer, I would recommend the WI Interstate side- better views, picnic areas and they have a small lake for swimming- the MN side is only river swimming, and can be very dangerous because of the currents there.

You know, if you%26#39;re willing to drive that far outside of the Twin Cities, we%26#39;ve really enjoyed some incredible spots. I would recommend a few places:

Lanesboro

Picturesque little town with lots of lodging options, you can float/canoe the river, bike/blade the trail, and it%26#39;s just a great area to visit.

Cannon Falls

Again, a great area on the Cannon Valley Bike Trail that goes between Red Wing and Northfield, fishing at Lake Byllesby is spectacular I hear, and tubing/canoing on the Cannon River is really fun.

If you%26#39;re into state parks, I would recommend Lake Carlos, St Croix and I second Interstate, they%26#39;re some of our favorites.

Duluth is just a fun town overall and has everything to offer. Jay Cooke State Park is awesome. And it might be a nice relief from possible summer heat.

Have a great time, glad to hear you%26#39;re spending quality time in the great northwoods!
