Best place to park around Metrodome

We are thinking about attending the Twins/Brewers game on Sunday, June 29th. Where is the best and safest place to park around the Metrodome and where are some nice hotels in the area. We are also planning on visiting the Mall of America the next day. Thank you.

Howdy -

I live downtown about four blocks from the Metrodome.

If you are arriving on the weekend, you might be able to snag an open meter that only works Mon to Fri from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Like the ones in front of my condo (7th street between 4th %26amp; 5th aves).

Here%26#39;s a map - the meters right by the dome are everyday including weekends. But once you get out a few blocks, that eases up to M-F only.

As for hotels - consider Holiday Inn Express, Marquette, Crowne Plaza, Hilton Towers, Radisson, Graves, Chambers, and maybe a good deal at the new Westin.

I%26#39;d shy away from the Embassy Suites %26amp; Normandy, although they are the closest.

The Light Rail line can get you to the Mall of America in about 25 min - many stations downtown.

I think parking will depend on where you%26#39;re staying and how much of downtown you want to see vs. the mall. Most of us usually recommend staying downtown because there is more to see and more places to eat beyond the chain spots near and in the mall.

But there are places near the mall to allow you to see the mall and then hit the train up to downtown for the game.

If you stay downtown, I%26#39;d just leave the car in the hotel garage (if you have a car, I%26#39;m assuming you%26#39;re driving) and hail a cab for $5.

Otherwise, if you%26#39;re willing to walk a few blocks then you could find a meter (unenforced) on a Sunday.

Thank you both, DowntownMinneapolis and mntoathens for the information regarding parking and hotels. We%26#39;ll do the research on the info both of you provided. Thanks again.
