Need to take trip to Arden Hills, any good hotel

recommendations, or ones to avoid? Anywhere near there or between there and the airport would be fine. If I stay downtown how is the commute to Arden Hills on a weekday morning, and how long to the airport from there in the afternoon? First time to Minneapolis so I%26#39;m open to recommendations. I like to walk and see new things, eat good food etc, but may be busy in the early evenings with work functions. I will most likely have a car BTW.

Need to take trip to Arden Hills, any good hotel

I live near Arden Hills. It is a good 30 - 40 minutes to the airport using alternate routes - Otherwise, even longer and unpredictable. Public transportation is not an option going from the airport to Arden Hills in the AM. Consider a hotel that has a shuttle or rent a car. There are two hotels in Shoreview that border AH.that I would suggest - the Hampton and the Hilton. Arden Hills and Shoreview have great paths for walking - but not much else. You might want to stay closer to the city if you want to do other things. It depends on the amount of driving you want to do. Our public transportation is OK if you are in the city but at Arden Hills its not much more than a commuter service in at rush hour and out when it%26#39;s time to return home.

I don%26#39;t really know the hotels in that area, but if I were going from Minneapolis to Arden Hills during non-rush hour times I would allow 20 minutes. It is harder to say abouut the airport since there is a bit of construction that you would need to watch for.

Generally the trip to the airport take you through some of the more congested areas.

What time of day will you be traveling from Arden Hills?

Also, do you prefer downtown?

I%26#39;d like to be downtown if it makes sense. I%26#39;ll be flying in on noon-Tuesday most likely and going to the hotel. I may be hitting Arden Hills for happy hour with the group if it is not too much hassle. The next day I%26#39;ll need to be back in Arden hills for work in the am, then back to the hotel in the afternoon or after a group dinner someplace. I%26#39;ll then need to fly out on Thursday late afternoon, probably after a few hours in Arden hills at the account. I don%26#39;t sleep so well when I travel so being in an interesting but safe neighborhood would be great. I am also a west coast person so the time change may keep me up at night as well.

What is your budget? You might want to stay downtown St. Paul. Commuting to AH in the am wont be bad as youll be going against traffic most of the time. A trip to the airport from St. Paul is easier than from Mpls. However, downtown St. Paul, if not for the Ordway is not very exciting. There are good resaurants there though. Hmmm. Tell me more.

expense acct? budget?

I live in AH..The commute from downtown to AH in the morning or afternoon will be around 20 minutes of easy hwy driving.I would 2nd the Hampton and Hilton hotels.They%26#39;re right next to each other.Hampton has a bar and a restaurant.Commute to the airport will be 30 minutes.Keep in mind that the main hwy-35w has a bridge out right at downtown,so there is some detouring. This will only affect you somewhat getting into and out of downtown.You%26#39;ll be best using the above mentioned alternate route to the airport and wont be on hwy-35w going to the airport. As for dining, maybe tell us more of what youre interested in.You%26#39;ll need that car if you want anything less pedestrian than whats available within a couple miles.

it will be charged back to the company, but I don%26#39;t want anything extravagant. Under $150/nt or so will not raise eyebrows. Having a bar with a TV may be nice for the hotel as I may or may not have a lot of free time. It is only going to be 3 or 4 days so I don%26#39;t want to try and do touristy activities.

I still might stay in AH - rather than commute - if you stay in AH you are within min. of lakes Snail Lake Park to sit or walk, you can go a few miles further to walk around a small lake at Central Park or go to Como Park with a beautiful conservatory, golf course and cafe. If you stay downtown, hotels are nice, pricy and there are restaurants with patios for drinks or dinner. I%26#39;m not sure you can find a hotel downtown for 150 or less. Perhaps priceline or deals.
