one day trip out of Red Wing ending in Faribault

My train arrives in Red Wing at 9 pm, mid-November, where I%26#39;m meeting a friend, would like to spend the night and then take a long day trip ending in Faribault. Have yet to find a B %26amp; B with twin beds. Any recommendations? Also, my inclination is to drive north...or might there be something we shouldn%26#39;t miss in another direction?

Thanks,

Where are you looking for a B%26amp;B? If you find one with availability, it might be worth a call to request this? We%26#39;re always requesting either a king or 2 beds and never have problems finding that. Many often have a futon or sleeper sofa, if that%26#39;s an acceptable option.

I%26#39;m assuming there%26#39;s a reason for ending up in Faribault? I would recommend either using your daytrip to

a) explore both sides of the river - Frontenac State Park, Wabasha, Winona, Trempeleau, Stockholm, Pepin are all great little towns with interesting things to see or do... or

b) drive thru Miesville to have a burger at Kings, then drop down thru Cannon Falls en route to Northfield, a great town to spend a day

Unfortunately, it won%26#39;t be a picturesque time of year, but there are many interesting places to see %26amp; visit in that area of MN.

Thanks for the tips. I will check into your suggested routes. As for lodging, I booked today at the Pratt Taber Inn in Red Wing. The innkeeper was extremely accommodating and even offered to pick me up at the train station!

How about walking Minneapolis. Do you know if the city is laid out in such a way for a good walking tour?

Glad you got the lodging settled. If you%26#39;re in the cities in Nov, chances are it will be cold.

That being said, if you%26#39;d rather be comfortable, hit downtown Mpls where you can duck into the skyway that connects mostly all of downtown. It%26#39;s not easy to navigate, but that may be a bonus for exploring, and you can always ask directions. Nicollet Mall is great for people watching, shopping, bars, coffee houses %26amp; restaurants. They might have Christmas decorations up too.

If you don%26#39;t mind being outside, in order of preference, I%26#39;d say check out Grand Ave (St Paul), St Anthony Main/N Hennepin, explore neighborhoods on light rail and hit Minnehaha Parkway/Lake St restaurants/Mall of America or Uptown and the Chain of Lakes.

If you%26#39;d like more info on any of these, just ask.
