Hotel near Airport/MOA to Hard Rock

We%26#39;re staying at the Hyatt South near the airport. Visiting for a weekend to go to MOA %26amp; Albertville outlet. Want to go to Hard Rock (I collect pins) %26amp; see what the Warehouse District is all about, have dinner one night, etc.

I%26#39;m trying to figure out how we can best get there. Taxi, I%26#39;m sure. But, I was thinking about the light rail. I know we can get on it at MOA, but the mall will be closed by the time we want to return to our hotel. Maybe we should take transit there, %26amp; then a taxi back? How much would taxi fare be from Warehouse Dist to Hyatt?

Any other suggestions?

There is a light rail transit stop ';park %26amp; ride'; about a block and a half from MOA (East). This would be fairly close to the Hyatt. If the hotel has 24 hour airport shuttle service you could also catch the Hiawatha line at the airport...either terminal.

I would take the light rail there and cab it back.

I think it would cost around $30 for the cab back.

Warehouse district is FUN !

You won%26#39;t get lost on the light rail cuz you%26#39;ll hitting both ends of the line. Get on at first stop - Mall of America, and finish at Warehouse District stop (two blocks north of Hard Rock).

As long as you take the last train out of downtown - 1:13 a.m., you should be able to get your car in the Mall ramp. They don%26#39;t like cars parked overnight.

Taxi from towntown to hotel - probably $45.

How old are people in the group? There are plenty of dining / drinkin%26#39; options downtown.

Thanks for the comments! I will be traveling w/a very good friend. She is 31, I am 42. She is single, I am not. We like to have fun, but we usually don%26#39;t close places down. This is a weekend of getting away from work (%26amp; kids in my case!). (We go somewhere together every year on this weekend.)And I don%26#39;t want to be in Minneapolis %26amp; JUST see MOA.

Thanks again!

I would add these two the list - a block from Hard Rock is a fun bar called Seven UltraLounge - awesome views of Hennepin avenue from the rooftop bar.

Also, hit the new W Foshay Hotel - bar on 27th Floor.

Yes...no overnight parking at MOA. The signs change from time to time, and there are occasional exceptions for Mall events, but in general parking past midnight has been risky. The signs at one point advised no parking after 11pm but I noticed awhile back it was changed to Midnight. With the loss of some of the late night entertainment venues there was less need for late night parking. Now with the newly revamped MOA Theatres taking over from AMC they have shows starting at 10:10pm which may not be done (or allow time to exit) by Midnight.

The towing companies had been fairly ruthless about cars there past a certain point. With the movie schedules running later I suspect the limit will have to be moved to 1am. The big reason for no overnight parking is to prevent free airport parking at MOA so 2-3am would work just as well to decide if a car was truly ';overnight';.

Until this gets defined using the Hiawatha light-rail from the 28th St. station near MOA would work better for late night. The last southbound train from Warehouse District is at 1:16am.
