Glensheen tour

Can anyone tell me if it%26#39;s worth spending the money to take the extended tour? It%26#39;s an additional $11 and includes the 3rd floor. Thanks!

Glensheen tour

If you ever get the chance you can host a dinner party (or at least it was possible 10+ years ago) at Glensheen for ~16-20 people.

Dinner is catered and you eat in the Condon%26#39;s formal dining room. IIRC, you can supply your own wine for the meal. Part of the cost included a tour but I cannot remember exactly which portions of the home we saw (see wine comment above!) but I seem to remember it was very enjoyable. :%26gt;)

Glensheen tour

We did this tour years ago - it didn%26#39;t include 3rd floor, but we would have done the extension had it been available then.

Also, give yourself time after the tour, especially if it%26#39;s nice out, to walk around outside and explore the grounds.

We stopped for gas after, and saw a booklet for sale at the gas station, that was ';The Secrets of Glensheen';. I think it was at a SuperAmerica. We wish we would have bought it before, since the guide didn%26#39;t really divulge the real details of the murders.

Thanks Downtown - I%26#39;m actually aware of the history and the reported hauntings... they should market that more, it%26#39;s very interesting. We%26#39;ll probably do the extended tour if the weather%26#39;s crappy.

Creason - Not sure what else you%26#39;re planning in Duluth but Midi is a new restaurant that is good. My wife %26amp; I went in for a glass of wine %26amp; desert a few weeks ago and thought it was outstanding. My aunt %26amp; uncle live up there and said dinners were really good too, the location (Fitger%26#39;s mall) is wonderful as is the view.

We had a crème br?lée with an unusual flavor (for the life of me I cannot remember what it was) that was outstanding.

Thanks sully... we%26#39;re actually splurging a little Friday night. We%26#39;re doing a B%26amp;B and either eating at Nokomis or the Wine Bar at Taran%26#39;s Marketplace. We really wanted to relax and be casual all weekend. Might catch a band at Luce too, or enjoy a bonfire on the lakeshore.

Then we%26#39;re at the camper cabin in Jay Cooke until Monday. If it rains as much as predicted, we will probably end up at Fitgers eventually, really like that place. I don%26#39;t suppose casual dress is preferred at Midi (jeans %26amp; hiking boots)? It does look quite good...

We went on a Friday night after a HS football game (my son had a game) so we were in jeans %26amp; sweatshirts. We did not feel out of place at the bar and the other patrons did not appear to be to dressed up, many very casual.

Have a great trip!

I finally remembered the crème br?lée flavor.....ok, my wife remembered! - Lavender. Outstanding.

Well, just wanted to let you know that we did the extended tour and really enjoyed it. The house is very interesting, and the docents did answer questions about the murder and haunting. I think they%26#39;re actually doing a Halloween event this year. I would recommend the extra money toward a good cause.

On another note, we did not do Midi because we brought so much food for camping. But we did do Sara%26#39;s Table (part of Taran%26#39;s Marketplace) which was very good, although the wine list was disappointing. Unfortunately for our server, I pretty much sampled every red and did not care for one of them. The food and service were excellent and I%26#39;d highly recommend it.

Thanks for the recommendation, will have to try it next time we hit Duloot.

Hope you stayed dry!

And we%26#39;ll have to do Midi sometime!

We didn%26#39;t stay dry, but we did dress for the weather, so no big deal. It was still warm and the colors were gorgeous. It stopped raining long enough for us to enjoy a couple bonfires at night!
